Costume, Hair and Make up (by Aaron Toombs)

Our song choice is called "Tell Your Friends" and the lyrics repeatedly say "Don't tell your friends about it", so we come up with the idea of somebody being stalked. This means that we will have the stalkers wearing black and greys (darker colours) because not only does this match the theme but it also matches The Weeknd's fashion styles and choices throughout his videos. We have taken the concept of some of his videos and put our own idea together from them. They focus on a rather depressing or negative situation therefore we thought it would be best to film in locations which represent his dark themes.

Our inspired costumes from The Weeknd:

        

   

We have interpreted the colour scheme and the smart casual styles within our video. We have Ben who will wear a blue jacket without a hood, black jeans, a grey shirt and a black tie. Therefore within Ben's costume we have matched him mostly to the first and the second photo, a mix and match of the smart casual image. Except his jacket will not be blue denim it will be a bomber jacket. He will also wear black smart shoes with laces to match his jeans and tie. We will all be wearing black lace up smart shoes as well to show a pattern within the costumes, blazers were considered but we thought they may get dirty with the whole dragging body ideas so if we chose that idea, we would want to wear costumes that we wouldn't mind ruining. Therefore that is why we have chosen to replace the blazer idea with the bomber jacket as a substitute. 

Whereas for David, black jeans, black lace up shoes, a blue coat with a hood, a gold watch, and a black shirt and black tie. David will play the role of a killer therefore this is why we have chosen a darker style for him, but again to follow a pattern within the costumes we have chosen to make his coat blue as well. But both Ben and David will be represented as completely different people. This is again a rather smart but casual look, slightly more colour coded though as all of his costume is black with a blue coat. David will also be the driver if we decide to include our ideas involving therefore he will wear black gloves to ensure all of his identity is covered. The gold watch represents he is richer and more powerful than Ben therefore we thought this will be a key accessory, whereas Ben will be betrayed as more vulnerable. Also David is taller which immediately represents that he has more power than Ben. Overall David's costume matches mostly to all three photos considering he has the black suit style with a black tie not white, the blue jacket and then in the third photo if you zoom in you can see the extra accessories. 

Furthermore, my own costume (Aaron), will be most similar to David's as I will play the role as his helper but what separates the characters is that I don't have the expensive accessories which represents that he is the leader and I am the follower. I also wear darker colours, the same as David, I will wear a black shirt, tie, jeans and lace up shoes with a grey coat which also includes a hood. Also we have planned that I will mostly be in his shadow, so he will mainly be doing something first and then I will follow. Also with our dark locations, David will stand out more whereas I will look as if I perhaps fade into the background and don't play a major role. I will also wear black gloves and we will use props such as potential weapons within the area, this will match our costumes and characters more into our surroundings. 

Finally, Justice, we have planned so far that he will enter more towards the end as an additional helper when driving and moving the body etc. He will also lip sync towards the end and his costume will be similar but again he will look like an ordinary person whose style is slightly similar but separated to mine and David's. Black coat with a hood, white shirt, black tie, black jeans, black lace up shoes, black gloves. The costumes all match and have a similarity because it represents that no matter how similar you look, you don't know what somebody is like meaning they could be a potential danger to you. This is the kind of scene which is shot in The Weeknd's video, they are all dressed similarly and smart but one is a murderer. They also relate to our story line with the depressing theme and the smart and casual costumes. Also the props relate to his videos considering they use outdoor materials around the environment, cars, etc.

                               

Digipak (by Ben Furby)

This is my first draft for the digipak for our song that we as a group have chosen to do for A2 media. This was our first digipak idea that shows the song title on the cover of the digipak, it shows a person which has been edited to get a light effect around the outline of the person and a section of the ground that he is standing on. The title has been used in this to show an effect that links the title to the person within this, I have used a rugged rough effect to suit the style and genre of the music type that I think goes well with the chosen song.



This is our final design of the digipak design. I have chosen to use this design for our final digipak idea because I think that this layout and colour contrast adds colour to it and the genre that we as a group have chosen. I have used a photograph of our friend Rob Pickles that is posing for the photo that works well with what we wanted to go for as in the design and layout of the digipak. I have also over layered another photograph of a an abandoned building that shows a run down ground floor that I think creates a better effect just because it gives off a better feel to the image as it is a mix two different photographs that both go together when layered together to create the final design of the digipak.

Poster Design Idea (by Ben Furby)

This is our first poster design idea that I have produced with the input of the rest of the group that we all think that will show the poster to represent our chosen music video and genre. In this design I have used a bright yellow for the title that is the artists name (The Weeknd) because I feel that this will allow the title to stand out away from the other text that is in this poster.

In this poster I have used a image of a man that has been outlined in neon lights to bring out the image and what it can represent. R&B show off warm colours and the colours that I have used show the warm colour within this that I think go very well with the titles and the captions used within this. The background to this poster has been left plain black because I think that the style of music and genre that we are focusing on doesn't need to have a very outgoing background due to the colours and photos used within the foreground.

This is our final poster design that we have chosen to use for our production tasks for the music video. We have used the same photograph for the poster that we also used for the digipak because it shows a link between both the digipak and the poster. Within the poster I have used the same colours as the digipak that we have produced because it will show a link to them both due to the colours that have been used in them both. 

For the text used in this I have used the same font that was in the digipak so they both link together, also within the poster I have chosen to set the title of the poster to be a bright red to allow it to stand out as the first thing the viewer will see which shows us that it is about the weeknd and that it is is live tour. For the other text used in the poster I have used the same font but chosen to set the font colour to a white which still allows it to stand out but not so much that it distracts us away from the main focus that is to show that this is the weeknd's live tour. 

Target Audience Profile (by Justice Timajo)

We have gathered the information from our surveys and we have came into a conclusion that both the genders are aged between 15 - 25 years old with a slight high percentage of males rather than females.With a high interest in Rap and Pop music, as well as popularity in shopping in  Next and Topman. These people are mainly interested in Architecture and Business owning in the future. This information helps us determine what we should put in our movie to gain popularity and views.

Our typical viewer would be a boy named Matt, he would a 18 year old living with his parents in a small village. Matt is a White British and he is currently going to  a local state school.  He is studying studying A levels; Sport, media and Business studies. He's planning to go on to University in Brighton to study Architecture in the next couple of years. He lives in a quiet village called Buckingham on rich and wealthy estate. Matt is currently in a relationship and starting to do his driving lessons to be able to be more independent. 

In a normal day of Matt, he likes get up quite early before school to make sure he always on time to school. Matt always makes sure he dresses up smartly and correctly before he starts an average day in school. Matt normally has to walk to school as he lives fairly close to his school. In his free time Matt like to spend revising or playing football and socializing with his mates. Matt is very interested in thriller because he would believe that horrors are over rated from a very predictable endings. Where he thinks that thrillers are mysterious and more realistic rather than horrors. Every week Matt also likes to visit a cinema with his family to see a new released movies.

He has a certain allowance each month on how much he is allow to spend out of his parents money. He comes from a wealthy family therefore the amount of money he is given is around £400. Normally in school he likes to be a team leader because he feels he is has good communication skills. He likes to be highly competitive with other classmates. In his spare time he enjoys socializing with friends in parks and around town. He is quite popular and very likable outside of school, this is what gives him his confidence when leading in school.

Matt is often shy around new people and he also feels uncomfortable. Often when Matt does not achieve on something he gives up really easily. Matt is also very stressed about his upcoming A2 exams at the end of the year. Its making him panic and loose control. He feels very uncomfortable seeing inappropriate scenes of murder and blood around.

Matt is a very tolerant person. He respects and understand other religions and people from other background as he is also a Christian. When Matt would be interested in listening to rap music; his friends listen to different type of music to him however he respects their opinion and doesn't say anything.

Matt believes that his Saturday night consist spending it socializing with his friends, watching thriller movies and listening to Rap music like the Weeknd, YG and Kayne West. He specifically likes to listen to the Weeknd album, songs like 'Tell your friends', 'Can't feel my face' and 'The hills'. Matt specifically really likes films like  The Purge, and The World War Z. Additionally Matt really likes to watch comedies with a good story line and good job. Matt prefers to listen to music by buying the whole albums rather than listen to Spotify or iTunes.
